There’s No Better Time to Own a Peugeot
Peugeot’s popular Supermini, the fun and funky 208, has proved once again that it’s a car which holds no surprises when it comes to the quality of the long-term ownership experience.
In the latest Kinsey Report, which looks at the costs of a broad range of parts and components, the 208 finished as runner-up in the Supermini category, proving that its 2013 performance – when it was the top performer overall – was no fluke.
Assessed across the three categories of service, maintenance and ‘crash’ items, the last two Kinsey surveys confirm that the 208 is one of the most affordable cars to own and maintain, and insure.
It’s a trend evident across the Peugeot passenger car fleet and in the last five years the brand has steadily improved its performance: in the 2014 survey, the 2008 was third in the crossover section – evidence that the brand’s sub-compact cars are attractive in more ways than one.
Last year, as well as the 208 convincingly winning the Supermini segment, the 3008 MPV was fifth in the crossovers. In 2012, both the 308 and 3008 featured strongly, finishing fifth and second in their respective categories. In 2010, the 3008 was very much a mid-field runner, finishing sixth out of 11 cars in its category, but nowadays a Peugeot product is invariably in the top 20 to 25 percent of its class.
“With each passing year we’ve improved our overall standing in the survey, and our parts pricing is far lower than the industry average,” says Francis Harnie, Managing Director of Peugeot Citroën South Africa.
“This is no coincidence: it is the result of hard work behind the scenes, both with our local suppliers and also with Peugeot in France. We realise how important parts pricing and availability are as an influencer of long-term ownership and our customers – both past and present – are reaping the rewards.”
Consumers already have six good reasons to buy a new Peugeot: a guaranteed buyback, five-year full maintenance plan as standard, free mobility plan, no residual, free roadside assistance, and vehicles which come with a premium specification level.
Now there’s a seventh reason…
