Chevrolet has not given up on massive petrol-powered engines as they have recently made a new V8. While everyone else is downsizing combustion engines and going electric, this ZZ632/1000 V8 by Chevrolet might be a great way to add to your car if it has the space.
The engine.
Chevrolet plan to start selling the ZZ632/1000 10.35-litre naturally-aspirated V8 as early as next year. The traditionalists will be very pleased as it mostly sticks to traditional materials too. The only aluminium part is the forged pistons. This may be largely due to the risk of an aluminium block warping at high temperatures.
The weight of this monster heart has not been disclosed, but we do know its power outputs. The 10.35-litre V8 will throw out a massive 749 kW peak power number occurring at 6 600 rpm and 1188 Nm of torque. This puts this engine just above the league of the Bugatti Chiron and the Dodge Viper.
Why so much power? Well, this engine was made to race. Chevrolet has tested over 200 simulated drag races.
If a new racing focused engine is something you are interested in, then you may need to wait as the pricing of this V8 has also not been disclosed, neither has the gearbox specifications.
