New Fiat Tipo offers more

Fiat Tipo

Forget about everything you thought the Fiat Tipo was. There’s more on offer than ever before and its new styling package revolutionises the practical package.

The Fiat Tipo has been more than refreshed: it has been reinvented with more emotion, distinction and dynamic styling that makes it more captivating and younger, while offering the highest technology there is and new better-performing and environment-friendly engines.

The new line-up revolves around two themes: “Life” and its 3 trim levels – Tipo, City Life, and Life available in four-door sedan and five-door hatchback guise.

Where the Fiat Tipo offered unrivalled practicality and space, it now offers more appeal for a new, younger target customer, those looking for a car that is not only functional and ideal for the city, but also super cool with contemporary design.

The Tipo’s new look.

The New Tipo has been completely refreshed and now appears more modern, more dynamic and more elegant. The new front has a radical redesign of the grille, a highlight of which is the new Fiat logo, with Fiat lettering making a bold statement epitomising just how much change there is in the new car. The Tipo is also the first Fiat car to take on this logo.

The headlights have been completely redesigned, certain models now featuring day-time running lights and full-LED treatment in both the front and rear: not only do they enhance the car’s lines, they bestow a more modern look on the car and increase active and passive safety. Courtesy of improved visibility and in line with the quest for better sustainability in every minute detail, they reduce the car’s electricity consumption and therefore, accordingly, CO2 emissions.

The bumper in the lower section of the car, completely redesigned by adding elements in the brushed chrome ICE MATTE finish, is paired with new 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels with diamond finish and new designs.

Inside, the passenger compartment is brand-new, too. The seats feature fabrics with exclusive designs. The fully configurable 3.5”-inch TFT digital cluster replaces the conventional analogue instrument panel. This seriously higher-tech and more advanced system improves your interaction with the car and integrates with multimedia aspects and your phone. The cluster comes with the all-new UConnect 5” radio.

Even the steering wheel – now even more elegant and sportier – has been the focus of the designers’ attention. It is more compact and pared down for better ergonomics and to offer perfect visibility of the onboard seven-inch TFT cluster. Attention has also been paid to the central control panel, where the air conditioning settings have been revisited and new chrome and black inserts added.

Top-of-the-range safety and technology.

To add to the design and style, a major refresh has taken place in terms of technology, with one goal: to reach the summit of the C-segment.

Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) is now standard across the Tipo range as is Fiat’s Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM) system. Safety and security enhancements include keyless entry on some models, as well as a reverse camera and front parking sensors, making potentially vulnerable parking lot manoeuvres safer and more convenient.

Also enhancing mobility is a full-size spare wheel.

When it comes to infotainment, the Tipo is equipped with the fifth-generation UConnect 5 infotainment system with Navigation. The connected platform is designed for the future, available with a 5” inch screen and developed with the idea of providing customers with a straightforward and convenient user experience in mind.

Using the Tipo’s new infotainment system, you can connect two phones via Bluetooth at the same time: for example, you can use both your company and personal cellphones and handle incoming and outgoing calls simultaneously, now with no need to ‘jump’ from one connection to the other to answer a call on the phone not connected at the time.

Also worth a mention is the new white backlight for all the controls in the passenger compartment, resulting in a more modern look, as well as the USB port for the rear seats, a particularly useful feature for families on long journeys, so the kids can use their tablets.

Fiat Tipo TIPO, CITY LIFE and LIFE.

Available in either four-door sedan or five-door hatchback, Fiat Tipo is offered with the choice of three levels of specification: TIPO, CITY LIFE and LIFE.

Starting off the range is the TIPO sedan powered by the 1,4-litre petrol engine with six-speed manual transmission. Offering a high level of style and comfort as standard, TIPO features a height adjustable driver’s seat, manual air conditioning and electric windows for front seat occupants along with Bluetooth audio with controls on the steering wheel. Stylish hubcaps on 15-inch steel wheels distinguish the exterior from other models in the range.

The sedan is also available in CITY LIFE and LIFE derivatives. CITY LIFE models provide a host of comfort and convenience features as standard, adding automatic air conditioning, multi-function steering wheel in leather, electric mirrors, and remote central locking, along with 16-inch alloy wheels. Front fog lights further distinguish CITY LIFE sedans.

CITY LIFE sedans also benefit from cruise control, rear-view camera and front and rear parking sensors. The infotainment system includes Navigation along with the 3,5-inch TFT display.

Order the automatic CITY LIFE sedan and you’ll get 17-inch alloy wheels and gloss black door handles along with the 1,6-litre petrol engine and six-speed automatic transmission. Adjustable lumbar support and keyless entry get added, while automatic headlights and windscreen wipers add further convenience.

Fiat Tipo hatchback is available in CITY LIFE and LIFE models with either 1,4-litre petrol six-speed manual or 1,6-litre six-speed automatic drivetrains.

Hatchback models benefit from a rear-view camera as standard, along with other comfort features that include a height adjustable driver’s seat, floor mats, and steering wheel controls. CITY LIFE hatches run on 16-inch alloy wheels.

Day-time Running Lights and LED headlights are standard, enhancing that dynamic new front end styling as well as visibility. The new 3,5-inch TFT display and five-inch Navigation radio are also standard.

LIFE hatchbacks add cruise control and driver seat lumbar support adjustment to the convenience package, along with keyless-go. Automatic headlights and rain sensor enhance safety and convenience, as does the electrochromatic rear view mirror. They are distinguished by 17-inch alloy wheels externally.

Across the range, there’s a Tipo to suit anybody’s specific needs. All Fiat Tipos are covered by Fiat’s 5 years/100 000km warranty and 3 years/100 000km service plan.

New, more efficient and environment-friendlier engines.

The engine line-up of the New Tipo has also been completely refreshed, available with either Fiat’s 1,4-litre petrol engine with six-speed manual or 1,6-litre petrol motor with six-speed automatic transmission.

Developing 70kW at 6 000rpm and 127Nm at 4 500rpm, the 1,4-litre petrol engine offers nippy performance combined with efficient fuel economy for a great package. Using electric power steering to not detract from performance, this Tipo will accelerate to 100km/h in 11,5 seconds and on to a top speed of 185km/h. But it is the fuel economy that will impress: just 7,7 l/100km around town and as low as 4,5 l/100km on the open road. The Fiat Tipo has CO2 emissions of only 141 g/km on the Sedan and 132 g/km on the Hatchback.

For two-pedal motoring, Tipo is available with Fiat’s 1,6-litre petrol engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Delivering 81kW at 5 500rpm and 152Nm at 4 500rpm, zero to 100km/h acceleration is achievable in 11,2 seconds along with a top speed of 192km/h. Fuel economy remains impressive with 9,2 l/100km on the urban cycle and 4,6 l/100km on the extra-urban cycle. Emissions are rated at 146 g/km.
