VW Tiguan Allspace gets updated for 2022

VW Tiguan Allspace 2022

The larger brother of the Tiguan, the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, has just received an update. One that we will be seeing in South Africa next year, 2022. This mid-sized SUV is quite a bit bigger to fit in an additional row of seats, making it a 7-seater.

Catching up to the latest Volkswagen looks.

Receiving the same visual update to the body as the standard Tiguan, the Allsapce variant has new wheel designs and LED lighting setup. Both front and rear lights now feature twenty-four light strips that can modulate the brightness of the LED depending on outside conditions.

There are additional colours to choose from too, adding Oryx White and Kings Red Metallic to the list of options

A sportier-looking R-Line variant will also be available on launch that adds dual exhaust pipes. Apart from visual changes, the R-Line has no upgrades to the performance.

The biggest update to the cabin is the new IQ travel assist. This feature allows for semi-autonomous driving by combining the Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist systems. It can assist with steering, acceleration and braking at speeds of up to 210 km/h. Additionally, the climate control buttons are now touch-sensitive.

Since the Allspace is a bit bigger than the regular Tiguan, the load space with all the seats down is considerably more. There is a claimed 1 920 litres back there, but with all seven seats up, luggage space will likely be less.

Buyers of the Tiguan Allspace will also be able to upgrade the audio to a 480 watt Harmon Kardon sound system. At an additional cost of course.

As for the engines, the same ones from the previous generation will carry over. This is an option of two petrol engines – 1.4 turbo and 2.0 turbo. The latter includes 4Motion all-wheel-drive.
