As the first major auto show since the pandemic started, Auto Shanghai, there has been a lot of concepts, reveals and teasers including this Honda E:Prototype. This EV will be what the company will base its first EV in the Chinese market with plans to start production next year, 2022. This will be followed by ten more EVs that will be introduced over the next five years.
The Honda E:Prototype is lighting the way for EVs.
Honda said that we can look at the E:Prototype as a preview of an upcoming electric SUV. So even though concepts are still highly subject to change, we imagine they will stay very close to what we see here.
From the images, this SUV EV follows a similar shape to the HR-V with loads of things to remind you that it’s electric. The most of which is all the lights with multiple LEDs all around the concept. This will probably not directly affect the upcoming model, lights will still probably be a large focus on the exterior design.
As for the interior, there was no reveal for the Honda E:Prototype.
Infotainment and driver assistance details.
Honda has not mentioned any predicted specifications like range, power or change times but they did have a lot to say about the infotainment system. The model that will follow the Honda E:Prototype and the EVs to come will all be equipped with the third-generation of Honda Connect.
This system was first introduced in March 2021 which introduced features that can operate smart home appliances, perform online shopping while driving and a smartphone link for a digital key. The system also comes with omnidirectional ADAS*2. This is Honda’s next-generation advanced safety and driver-assistive system.
While a launch in China is confirmed, Honda did not say anything about other countries. It would be a safe bet that it might make it into the American and European markets. Places that already have growing EV infrastructure.
