Hyundai Staria full reveal

Hyundai Staria

It wasn’t so long ago that Hyundai revealed the Staria MPV but with very little information on the technical specifications. Fortunately, Hyundai has recently given us a closer look at the Staria with not all, but some of the specs and details about the interior.

The Staria is set to go on sale in specific markets (not South Africa) during the second half of 2021 and will initially be available as a people mover and a commercial van. However, Hyundai does plan to increase the range to include more specialised variants like camper vans, limousines and ambulances.

More interior features revealed for the Hyundai Staria.

While there will be many different variants, the flagship model will have eleven seats and only be available in South Korea. It will have two-wone interior colour options of Gray/Brown and Gray/Light Gray while the standard models will come in the choice of Black, Black/Beige and Black/Blue.

In higher-spec models, there will be many additional features like the wide-angle camera. This will prove especially helpful for transporting many people as it makes it very easy to communicate. Using the infotainment screen, the driver and front passenger can view the rear-seat passengers and use speakers to make your voice easier to hear.

“STARIA is not just reinterpreting spatiality, but also reimagining time spent in transit for the future. Designing for mobility isn’t about vehicle design. It’s about designing to accommodate a variety of lifestyles. STARIA’s interior space and functionalities aim to transform how people experience in-car travel, optimizing journeys by making the most of time in transit.” – SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Hyundai Design

Engine options and safety features.

Depending on which market you are looking at, Hyundai will be offering the Staria with either a diesel or petrol engine. The first is a 2,2-litre turbodiesel with 130 kW and 431 Nm while the latter is a naturally-aspirated 3,5-litre V6 petrol with 200 kW and 331 Nm.

As standard, the Staria will come with Forward Collision-Avoidance and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist. There is also a new Safe Exit Assist system that will stop the electrically operated sliding door from opening when it detects a vehicle approaching. There will also be Rear Occupant Alert system in some markets that alerts the driver if an occupant has been left inside the vehicle.

Now that we have this closer look at the Staria, would this be a vehicle you would want to see in South Africa?
