Suzuki South Africa has recently launched the 2021 Vitara Brezza in South Africa with specs and pricing that we can review. This model sits in between the Ignis and Vitara models in terms of size and pricing. It also features an update for 2021 that improve the style and engine.
Updates styling on the 2021 Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
While not a true off-roader, the 2021 Suzuki Vitara Brezza still keeps the looks of one. This includes a chrome-look grille and skid-plate-like bumper accents. The pricing would probably be more if they were real and you are probably not going to need them.
In addition to this, the 2021 Vitara Brezza will come with fog lamps, roof rails, wheel-arch extensions and a tailgate spoiler as standard. There are two trim levels, the GL and GLX. The GL will ride on 16-inch steel wheels.
The GLX, on the other hand, will get diamond-cut 16-inch alloy wheels as well as LED headlamps, daytime running lights, gunmetal roof rails and a silver bumper. What both versions have in common is the 1115 kg kerb weight with manual versions and a claimed luggage capacity of 328 litres.
Fantastic standard cabin features.
The cabin is lit up by mood lights that have an option of five colours. The interior is still simple with helpful standard features like automatic climate control and rear parking sensors. There is a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system that dominates the dashboard. It comes with Bluetooth, USB and Auxiliary port connectivity and will display the reverse-view camera. This system is thankfully both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible.
The range-topping GLX option gets even more features. For starters, the multi-function steering wheel is leather-trimmed and the car will come with keyless entry and push-button start. Cruise control comes standard on this trim level as well with additional tweeters for the sound system and a cooled glovebox. If you need to plug in a device from the boot, there is a 12V port in the load bay of the 2021 Vitara Brezza GLX.
Both GL and GLX are powered by the same engine.
Powering the 2021 Vitara Brezza is a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre 4-cylinder K15B engine that powers the front wheels with 77 kW and 138 Nm. This is mated to the choice of a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic transmission. For the bits of off-roading you might do, there is a 192 mm ground clearance.
The Vitara Brezza revived a 4-star crash safety rating from Global NCAP in 2018 and all those safety features are present in 2021. These include 2 front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist. There are also ISOfix child-seat mounting points on the back seat. Keep children in the front seat if you can though, there are no airbags in the back.
