2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class revealed

2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class

This is what happens someone wants an already luxury-focused vehicle to be even more impressive, a Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. Maybach has taken the S-Class model and made it super luxurious for the passengers. Perfect for the few who buy cars to be driven by chauffeurs.

It comes packed with unique features that put this car in competition with the latest Bentley and Rolls-Royce models. We will go over each of these features and we want to know from you, would you prefer this Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, a Bentley or a Rolls-Royce.

Loads of chrome on this massive Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

Being passenger-focused, you obviously need more legroom. That is why the original S-Class is such a long car. But the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class goes one up. This new 2021 model is 30 cm longer to offer even more legroom in the rear seats.

To say Maybach used chrome would be an understatement. This Mercedes-Maybach S-Class stands out with a huge chrome grille and air-intakes. It doesn’t stop there. There is more chrome on the bonnet spine, windows, doors and rear of the car.

Two-tone paint has been a very common sight on the higher up versions of the latest cars. But just being two-tone is clearly not fancy enough for Maybach. The paint is finished by hand taking a whole weeks work to complete.

Top tier luxury for two passengers.

The interior of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is where all the luxury is fitted in, particularly for the rear seats. For starters, those huge doors are too heavy for your chauffeur. Not a problem because Mercedes-Maybach has made openable and closable with a button. This can even be operated from the driver’s seat.

Now that the passengers are inside, they can enjoy top of the range luxury seats with heating, cooling and massages. These seats can also recline to reveal leg rests that will massage your calves too. You can top this all off with some champagne from the Executive Rear Package.

This package comes with a champagne fridge, tray tables, more wood trim and matching glasses. You can even set the temperature of the fridge for the optimum drinking experience. All shared while inside the car.

With many automatic seat belts, the car will extend the belt once you enter and close the door. That is way too primitive for Maybach. The roof of the vehicle is equipped with lasers that scan the interior to notice what the passengers are doing. So the automatic seatbelt will wait until the car notices you reaching for the belt. Then it will hand it to you immediately.

This feature goes even further with the interior lighting. Mood lights have become far too standard, so the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class went beyond. Noticing where the passenger is, it will focus more light on where you are looking. It can also match the natural light from outside so that your eyes are appropriately adjusted before you leave the car.

Infotainment and noise cancelling are the last two major features for the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. With a total of five infotainment screens, two in the front and three in the back, everyone will have plenty to do if they get bored. But what about the nasty wheel sounds as you drive? Just like high-quality headphones, the speakers will play low frequency sounds to cancel that out.

Engine options and new sensor tech.

Right now, there are two powertrains available for the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. The first being a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that pushes 370 kW and 700 Nm through all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. The other being a massive 4.0-litre twin-turbo V12.

A plug-in hybrid model is on the horizon for those a little more carbon-conscious, but it will still be a fuel guzzler. This will include a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder motor.

A long car like this would usually have an appalling turning circle. This is why Maybach have included rear-wheel steering that allows the rear wheels to turn up to 11 degrees.

Your regular comfort mode is clearly not good enough if you are spending this kind of money on a luxury car. That is why this model comes with the new Maybach mode. It softens up the air suspension, programs the accelerator to be smoother, makes gear changes happen at lower revs and starts the car in second gear.

That huge chrome grille is more than just for show, it includes loads of sensors. In fact, the whole car has sensors to put the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class at the top of automatic driving. Right now it is limited due to laws and programming, but the brand says that it should be soon and you could completely let go of the steering wheel. It can even park itself in smart parking.

It’s all in the name of comfort and prestige. This Mercedes-Maybach S-Class  really stand up with the best in luxury vehicles.
