New Hyundai Grand i10 lands in South Africa

Hyundai Grand i10

Having been revealed in August 2019, the new Hyundai Grand i10 is now set to launch here in South Africa. Imported from India, we will get five variants under the Motion and Fluid trim levels. We have prices for all five variants as they prepare to land on our shores.

The Hyundai Grand i10 is serious and fun.

This quirky hatchback is a little bigger than its predecessor and has a ground clearance of 157 mm. It has a surprisingly aggressive front end with shart triangular shapes in the headlights, grille and fog lamp surrounds. Creases in the hood add to the aggression even more.

Surprisingly, the rear carries none of the angry lines and sharp angles. It’s the embodiment of business in the front, party in the back.

The interior is just as quirky and fun as the exterior. While mostly black, red highlights make the seats and air vents stand out. Notice the pattern that runs across the dashboards too. We guess it may be hard plastic but it certainly looks fun.

A full-colour infotainment system stands out from the dark dashboard while behind the steering wheel. Apart from the red trim, it’s the most colourful thing around. All the way at the back, the Hyundai Grand i10 gets a 360-litre luggage compartment.

Expect more specifications to be revealed soon.

There are two engines that will come with the Grand i10. Both are naturally aspirated with the smaller one being a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that creates 49 kW and 94 Nm. The next engine is a 1,2-litre four-pot petrol that has peak numbers of 61 kW and 114 Nm.

Both engines come with the option of either a five-speed manual gearbox or four-speed automatic transmission. As for safety, we can expect there to be dual front airbags and ABS with EBD as standard.

Local prices for the Grand i10.

As previously mentioned, the Hyundai Grand i10 comes in five variants and while the official spec details are yet to be revealed, we have the list of prices. We can expect more information to be revealed soon.
