Mitsubishi enter the first plugin-hybrid to the Rebelle Rally

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is back to breaking new grounds at the Rebelle Rally with the military veterans’ nonprofit Record the Journey (RTJ). In the 2019 event, Mitsubishi had the first adaptive athlete to complete the Rebelle Rally with Team RTJ. Now, for 2020, Mitsubishi plans to enter the first even plugin-hybrid to the event with Team RTJ once again.

“We are thrilled to continue our support for Team Record the Journey this year with the world’s best-selling plug-in hybrid electric vehicle1, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and to continue to prove our legacy of quality, dependability and reliability.” – Mark Chaffin, MMNA Chief Operating Officer

The all-women’s Rebelle Rally.

The Rebelle Rally started in 2016 as the first all women’s off-road navigation rally in the U.S. It’s a 10-day, 2,000 km navigational rally originally with two classes; 4×4 and Crossover. For the first time, the Rebelle Rally is adding a special honour award for battery-powered electric vehicles (BEV) and plugin-hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV). It is the latter that Mitsubishi is entering their 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV with Team RTJ at its helm.

Mitsubishi are entering their 2020 Outlander PHEV.

This 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV that we will get to see compete at this year’s Rebelle Rally will make use of a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. It’s attached to a 12 kWh lithium-ion battery that can charge in just 25 minutes using a fast-charge system.

Last year, 31-year U.S. combat veteran Rachael Ridenour navigated an Eclipse Cross and came second with 31-year U.S. combat veteran, Rachael Ridenour as the driver. Team RTJ was also awarded the 2019 Rebelle Rally Team Spirit Award.

This year, Rachel Ridenour will return as the navigator and it currently vetting candidates to drive with. Mitsubishi and Team RTJ will have our support in the coming Rebelle Rally. We look forward to seeing them charge into it with the new Outlander PHEV.
