While Ford plans to start production of the new GT in 2021, they have also announced a new Heritage Edition and a limited Studio Collection edition. While both models are equally exciting, it’s the Heritage Edition that has all the hype. Rather than a memory of a Le Mans victory, Ford is going back to 1966 where the Ford GT40 received it’s first-ever Daytona 24-hour endurance win.
Ford GT Heritage Edition.
98 Rondels, unique paint and carbon-fibre make this Ford GT Heritage Edition what it is. The body is finished in Frozen White with asymmetric Race Red details while the hood is exposed carbon-fibre. The 20-inch aluminium wheels are done in Heritage Gold with red brake callipers. If for whatever reason, someone wanted more heritage in their Heritage Edition, Ford is offering a Heritage Upgrade package that replaces the gold wheels for exposed carbon-fibre ones and black brake callipers.
Inside, Ford has given this new GT Heritage Edition loads of material upgrades. Black Alcantara can be found on almost every surface while the seats are red. Paddle shifters are anodized red too.
Ford GT Studio Collection.
Along with the Heritage Edition, Ford announced a second, limited-edition, version although with less information. Kitted out with the new graphics package, Ford wants this limited-edition GT Studio Collection to stand out from the crowd. We assume the crowd is made out of other Ford GTs. It comes with seven customizable colours that should allow the buyer to get a Ford GT that is more unique to themselves.
A reminder of what’s inside.
Powering the 2021 Ford GT is a twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 engine that creates 482 kW and 746Nm of torque. This makes it capable of 348 km/h. It does not come with any self-driving tech which is great for a track but not as much if you wanted to reenact the 24-hour drive this car was inspired after.
As massive fans of the Ford GT, a good looking Heritage Edition with a different look makes us really excited. We can’t wait to see more information about the GT and all the other versions of it in action.
