Audi reveal S3 Sportback and Sedan for 2021

2021 Audi S3

Based on the fourth-generation A3 model, Audi has just revealed its new 2021 S3 in both sedan and Sportback variants. It’s sharper design will appeal to the more modern market while the peak power figures stay the exact same. Audi does say that the 2021 S3 should use that power better with an upgraded suspension.

The 2021 Audi S3 is sharper and meaner than ever.

Longer, wider and riding lower, we think the updated design looks great. The most notable changes are to the large air intakes and wide diamond pattern grille. While the wing mirror end caps are not real aluminium, we are very pleased that the diffuser is in fact as real as it gets. It’s how it should be.

There will be two limited colour options for the 2021 Audi S3. We can see them in the images and Audi calls them Python Yellow and Tango Red. The wheels will come as 18-inch as standard, however, there will be a 19-inch upgrade option. Just behind them will be black painted brake callipers that can be changed to red for an extra cost.

Interior design that matches the exterior.

The interior of the 2021 Audi S3 is just as sharp as the resigned bodywork. Loads of real aluminium and carbon fibre trim make their way all around the cabin. Behind the steering wheel is a 12-inch digital display while the infotainment touchscreen is 10-inches. Overall, the cabin is super inviting and well designed, it’s what we expect from Audi.

In terms of luggage, both the sedan and Sportback boast a lot of space. The Sportback has the least with only 325-litres and the sedan has 370-litres.

Same peak output, new suspension.

For 2021, the Audi S3 is powered by their 2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. It has the same peak performance numbers as the previous generation, that being 228 kW and 400 Nm. This power goes to all four wheels, controlled by a 7-speed S Tronic dual-clutch transmission. Both sedan and Sportback models perform the exact same on track too. From 0 to 100 km/h, they will get there in 4.8 seconds. There is however a mandatory 250 km/h top speed which is rather boring. Still, 250 km/h with fantastic acceleration is no snooze.

As we mentioned earlier, Audi says that the 2021 S3 can use that same power even better than before. This is thanks to the S-specific sport suspension. As an optional upgrade, buyers of the S3 will be able to get adaptive dampening too.

While these performance S3 models are yet to be confirmed, Audi will be sending the fourth-generation A3 to out local market. We hope that this does mean that the S3 will follow close after.
