The GT Black Series is the most powerful road car Mercedes-AMG have ever made. This is only just the 1st standalone model Affalterbach have made. We have seen teasers and leaked images before, but now Mercedes-AMG has fully revealed the details for this GT Black Series.
The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is what we have seen before and more.
A clearly motorsports inspired car, we have both seen and talked about the exterior design elements. This doesn’t mean that there isn’t more to talk about. The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series has included a host of aerodynamic features and it’s all done in lightweight material and carbon fibre. They include the adjustable front splitter, air vents, double-bubble roof, side skirts and rear diffuser. That massive rear wing can also be manually adjustable to fine-tune the downforce and drag.
New 20-inch lightweight forged-alloy wheels are what this car sits on leaving nothing of the older Mercedes-AMG GT R left on the Black Series.
Interior features have been revealed.
Lots of high-quality material was used inside the cabin. The Nappa leather and black Dinamica fabric are all stitched together in orange. Grey stitching is optional. The bucket seats are Carbon-fibre and the door handles are no more, there is now the more track style loop pull handles.
A 12-inch instrument cluster and 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system control all the technology and controlling the more manual parts are the aluminium shift paddles for your feet.
As optional, buyers of this car can get the AMG Track Package. This will add a roll-over protection system, four-point seatbelts and a fire extinguisher.
AMG has made a monster of a road car.
The heart of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that is matched with a flat crankshaft. AMG has tuned the engine up so much that they completely renamed it to M178 LS2. With a dry-sump configuration, revised firing order and upgraded turbochargers, this GT Black Series make 537 kW and 800 Nm!
Starting from a standstill, this car can get to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. From 0 to 200 km/h in less than 9 seconds. This brings it to its top speed of 325 km/h while generating 400 kg of downforce at 250 km/h.
Just about everything else about this car is built for pure performance. The suspension, brakes, wheel camber are all new and put together make the beautiful monster we can see now.
