Hyundai has brought back the Santa FE, giving it a facelift and moving it to a new platform. That means this Santa FE is getting much more than just an update to the design. Hyundai has not said exactly what platform it will be going to, but it is guessed at being the new N3. Overall, this is a good new look for the car.
The new look for the Hyundai Santa FE.
The biggest and most obvious change is right up front with the grille and headlights. A wide geometric shaped grille connects the main headlights. A new lighting signature matches that with T-shaped LED daytime running lights. Combines with the widened wheel-arch cladding, this Santa FE looks strong and aggressive. It’s not in the same direction as many modern Hyundai cars adding to its unique charm.
Along the sides are strong crease lines and new alloy wheels that go up to 20-inches. Right at the back, there are new taillights connected by a reflector band that is mimicked at the bottom of the car.
Updates to the interior style.
Hyundai says this new Santa FE will have “more space, comfort and convenience.” Matched with leather and soft-touch materials along with new features, Hyundai is right. There is a new redesigned centre console that has been raised and leads to a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It comes with satnav, reverse-view camera display and entertainment. In the driver’s display, there is also a 12-inch digital instrument cluster.
This is also the first time this car will be getting a terrain mode option. Now, the Santa FE can adjust to sand, snow and mud while changing between eco, sport and comfort driving options. As with many terrains and driving options, there is a smart mode that detects the optimal option for the way you are driving.
What we know about the drive.
With the new platform that Hyundai calls their “all-new, third-generation,” they also say there will be improvements in the performance, handling, fuel efficiency and safety. With no exact about how they are achieving this, we do know there will be hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants that will help with fuel efficiency.
We look forward to what Hyundai has for the future of the Santa FE. With a stunning new design and a boost to the overall driving experience, this could be the next car to look out for.
