It’s been a difficult season for all car manufacturers and BMW have responded with Edition Golden Thunder. You didn’t read it wrong; they started the name with the word Edition. Making something more expensive in a struggling market might not make the most sense at first, but BMW is targeting a whole different set of customers, collectors.
On all 840i, 840d xDrive and M850i xDrive powertrains, BMW now offers this shocking Edition Golden Thunder trim option. Saying the name again makes me think we’re getting a sequel to a Ben Stiller movie. BMW says this new trim will be available starting from September 2020 and we hope it’s successful. Seeing more uniquely designed BMWs is always a good thing. They also really made this design look really good.
A look at the outside of the new BMW Edition Gold Thunder.
Finished in either Sapphire Black or Frozen Black metallic with Golden lines and highlight. It’s a stunning design that looks amazing in pictures. The bodywork stays the same depending on which model you attached this trim to, but the Golden 20-inch M light-alloy wheels are new. The side-mirror housing is too highlighted in gold like the lines that run down the side skirts the doors and through the bumpers. An M boot spoiler is also offered but exclusively to the Coupe versions.
The interior keeps the black and gold.
The gold and black stay consistent for its interior design. BMW Individual black Marino leather is combined with aluminium mesh-effect gold inserts. The seats have been embroidered too and the roof liner of Coupe variants is made of BMW Individual Alcantara Anthracite. In the Centre Console is the BMW Edition Gold Thunder emblem. To complete the interior, a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system comes standard.
While there may be many opinions about the addition of this new trim level, BMW has made it look good. It’s a different answer to a unique problem and we are just happy to be able to talk about a new, very out-there design.
