Stuttgart/Essen – Two models from Mercedes-Benz Cars have been awarded this prestigious design prize: the Mercedes-AMG GT has won the “Red Dot: Best of the Best” for outstanding design quality and groundbreaking styling, while the smart fortwo takes the “Red Dot” for high design quality. Both models have already won the similarly internationally renowned “iF product design award 2015”.
All in all, 1994 manufacturers and designers from 56 countries entered a grand total of 4928 products in this year’s prestigious “Red Dot” design competition, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The aim of the 38-member jury is to acknowledge the finest achievements in international product design. The award ceremony will take place on 29 June 2015 at the Aalto Theatre in the German city of Essen.
With the new Mercedes-AMG GT, the sports car and performance brand of Mercedes-Benz joins a high-calibre line-up in what is a new segment for the company. The Mercedes-AMG GT has everything you would expect from an authentic sports car – from distinctive styling with breathtaking proportions, powerfully shaped surfaces and flowing lines, through to thoroughbred motorsport technology and optimum weight distribution.
The revolution enters the next round – the smart fortwo has undergone improvements in virtually all areas and is markedly more comfortable. The appearance of the third-generation smart fortwo exudes a clear, purist character and has undergone further development along very progressive lines. With its typical attributes such as the profile with the ultra-short overhangs, its clear lines and surfaces and the likeable smart face it remains unmistakably smart: fresh, modern and self-confident.
